Carlos Perez-Delgado has a background in theoretical computer science, mathematics, and theoretical physics. His research interests are computation & complexity theory, cryptography, quantum information theory, and metrology. He holds a BSc in computer science from Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, and both a master of mathematics in combinatorics & optimisation (with a specialisation in cryptography) and a PhD from the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo. His doctoral research focused on the theory and applications of a model of quantum computation called quantum cellular automata. Prior to joining the Quantum Theory & Information group, Dr. Perez-Delgado was a research fellow at the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore. Between 2008 and 2011, he was (alternately) a research fellow in both the departments of physics and astronomy of the University of Sheffield, and the University of Sussex.
